RUN 4 LIFE 2011

Hours before the sun came up on May 15, hardworking volunteers were busy getting ready for Lifeline Foundation’s Run4Life 2011. More than 1,700 runners came to support Lifeline Foundation’s second official fun run – friends, families, police officers, avid runners, bloggers, photographers and many more came together for a morning of fun, exercise and to help change lives.
Proceeds for this year’s Run4Life race categories went towards different programs. 3k runners ran to support Lifeline’s Satellite School Program, an effort to help educate street children; 5k runners ran to support Lifeline’s Patient of the Month and the monthly Medical Missions Lifeline holds for local teachers, police officers, barangay officials and their families; 10k runners ran to support the Community Library; and 16k runners ran to support a Youth Soccer Program Lifeline Foundation is partnering with.
Run4Life 2011 officially started as our hosts Michael Gemina and Lifeline Deputy Director, Betty Romero, sounded the gunstart at 5:10 am for the 16k runners, followed by the 10k runners at 5:25 am, then the 5k runners at 5:40 am, and last but not the least, by the 3k runners at 5:50 am. All the while fun activities from our different sponsors as well as the lively beat from the tribal drum group Balumpare Drummers kept spectators, runners and other volunteers busy while waiting for everyone to complete the race.
It was an event worth going to and being a part of – from running for the various programs to the memory-making photo booths and the numerous raffle treats that were given out that day from Bellevue Hotel, Reebok, Guhit Kamay, and Fitness First and others, and handed to the tired and happy recipients by James Younghusband, Betty Romero, Coach Jojo Durian, and Michael Gemina. All race participants were able to take home a load of goodies from our sponsors, and two lucky winners who registered with Globe that morning brought home their very own Blackberry phones!
All in all, this was a fun-filled run and one that helped changed people’s lives. And an event made possible with the help of our major sponsors Fitness First, Reebok, PLDT, Toyota, FrontRunner, Pocari Sweat, Alabang Bulletin, 106.7 Dream FM, Magic 89.9, Life: Activated Multivitamins, Brittany, Portofino, Manila Nature’s Link Corp., The Bellevue Hotel, Filinvest, Anchor Shape-Up, Timberpro, ChrisSports, Healthway, Alaska, South Supermarket, Perfect Moments Souvenirs, Agua Vida, Muscletape, Dibuho, Magnolia Lifedrink, LMC Logistics, Southern Living, frontrunner, Mulitsport, Hanakazu, Juiced and Wrapped Ideas, The Serenity Place, Sujiivana Salon and Spa, BoNa Coffee Company, and Bohemian Nation.
